Hi! When I build decks with green's ramp it's hard for me to know how many and which artifact/land ramp to use. Obviously Sol Ring always makes the cut, but when shouldn't you use Mana Vault? When is Ancient Tomb a burden? Should Grim Monolith be in every deck? and how do those types of acceleration compare to Burnished hart/Journeyer's Kite/Weathered Wayfarer ramp? I feel like a guide on effective use of these resources would be very helpful. Thanks a lot for all the great articles you post. (:
Okay, I think I can categorize most ramp cards into cards that go in all decks, cards that go in Green decks, and cards that go in nongreen decks. I consider land search that doesn’t accelerate you (such as Weathered Wayfarer and Journeyer’s Kite) to be very different from ramp, so I don’t really want to talk much about them (although I will say that every White deck should probably be running Land Tax and Weathered Wayfarer, slow White decks can run Endless Horizons, and Journeyer’s Kite is fine in slow nongreen decks). On to the ramp:
The more I play with it, the more I think that Ancient Tomb goes in close to 100% of decks (assuming you’re not on a budget and that your deck doesn’t have super heavy color requirements). The life is mostly irrelevant, while the acceleration is not.
Terrain Generator is another great ramp card with almost no downside (and unlike Ancient Tomb, you can get this one for less than $2). It’s colorless mana most of the time, but when you’ve got nothing better to do, it can launch you a turn ahead of everyone else.
I have always had good success with dark ritual in edh. It really helps my Oona and Dralnu lists. It can be used to play an early thran dynamo/coalition relic, its also great for surprise hero’s downfall and the like when it looks like you don’t have enough mana to interact.
An hour ago, Jessica Care Moore, Talib Kweli, folks from the Fellowship of Reconcillation, Philp Agnew of Dream Defenders, Bgyrl ForLife, Malik from Occupy the Hood and Trymaine Lee from MSNBC and many others were chased like animals by the cops. We ran to get away and were surrounded on a small path on bridge, surrounded by all types of police and told to lie down and put our hands up. We complied and we were told if we did not stop moving we would be shot. We were breathing. The young brother lying on my feet as I was holding him was not able to control his breathing he said “I’m choking” the cop told him to stop or he would shoot him. I told him “try not to move, just lay still I got you.” The gun was at his chest. I looked at the cop and said “please, he is not doing anything” I tried to record but the cop had his finger on the trigger. I could feel Talib’s hand on my back and Jessica behind me. We laid there until one Black officer said “Let them go, we got who we wanted.” In all my life I have never been so terrified. The young brother Devin said thank you I think you saved my life. What is going down here in #ferguson in all my years of activism, organizing, I have never seen. This is a war zone, a military occupation and our children are the cannon fodder. The white boy who threw the water bottle a big fuck you, I am sure you were an agent provocateur. But for the police to act this way, they are itching to kill more of us. P.S. Women are also brutalized and terrorized by the police, at the end all of us are Black and Brown and animals to them. We don’t know where @PhilofDreams_ is and Ryan from Peace Poets was arrested.
Which direction do you tap?
I’ve been known to tap both ways.
What are the odds of that being taken out of context? : )
